As we all knows that nowadays, street lighting systems in industries and cities are increasing rapidly. There are different technologies like electrical and electronics are cost effective, automation and power consumption. These lighting systems are used to control and decrease energy consumption. This article illustrates the street light that glows on detecting vehicles movement.

A resister is an electrical component that regulates the flow of electrical current in an electronic circuit.
It is a two terminal electrical component used to store electric charges.
It is an electronic device that is used to supply electric charges to electrical load.
It has series of three terminal positive regulators fixed with several output voltages.
A light depending resistor (LDR) is also known as photo resistors. It is a type of resistor whose resistance varies depending on the amount of light falling on its surface.
It is an array IC which consists of seven NPN darlington having high voltage and high current.
A light emitting diode (LED) which emits visible light when electric current passes through it.
MICRO CONTROLLER 8051
8051 is an 8-bit family of micro controller its means that “system on a chip”.
WORKING OF THIS PROJECT
The infrared sensor are placed on each side of the road that are used to detect the vehicle movement and send the logic signals to the micro controller to turn on/ off the LEDs for a specific distance. The power supply of this project is made up of a step-down transformer, which steps down the voltage from 230v to 12V AC. This is transformed to a DC using a Bridge rectifier. A capacitor is used to remove the ruffel using a capacitive filter, and it is then regulated to +5V from 12v using a 7805IC voltage regulator, which is mandatory for the micro controller and for the other components too.
- This project is designed to detect vehicle movement on highways to switch ON only a block of street lights before the vehicles and to switch OFF the behind lights.
