How to make Earthquake Detector circuit project

As the technologies are getting advanced day-by-day,we also need to keep us updated with upcoming technologies.I am going to discuss on the topic “Earthquake detector” which is ranked under one of the best  project for electrical as well as electronics engineering students which is very helpful to detect and alert us with this destruction.earthquake detector1-engineeringprayog

As you can see in the above pictures how the earthquake destroys and messed up all the things in this man’s place.

For many of us that live in a seismically active region, an earthquake is a very real and constant threat. Even moderate earthquakes that are not strong enough to hurt anyone can cause a significant amount of damage to the contents of your house if you are not prepared.So this earthquake alarm or detector are used,which detects the waves before the shaking arrives.

COMPONENTS DESCRIPTIONS OF EARTHQUAKE DETECTOR PROJECT

741 Op-Amps

The Operational Amplifier is probably the most versatile Integrated Circuit,the Op-Amp is a ‘Linear Amplifier’ with  variety of uses. Its main purpose is to amplify (increase) a weak signal – a little like a Darlington Pair.

Relays

A relays is a simple electromechanical switch made up of an electromagnet and a set of contacts.

Jumper wires

A  jumper wire  is an electrical wire or group of them in a cable with a connector or pin at each end , which is normally used to interconnect the components of a breadboard or other prototype or test circuit, internally or with other equipment or components, without soldering.

Battery clip

terminal of a connecting wire having spring jaws that can be quickly snapped on a terminal of a device, such as a battery, to which a temporary wire connection is desired.

Battery

A container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of power.

Prototyping PCB

A petrotype is an early sample or model of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated.

Piezo Buzzer

The piezo buzzer produces sound based on reverse of the piezoelectric effect, They are used in alarm circuits.

Ohm Potentiometer

A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding or rotating contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider.

 Ohm Resistor

resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element. In electronic circuits, resistors are used to reduce current flow.

 Acrylic tube 

Acrylic glass or poly(methyl methacrylate)is a transparent thermoplastic made from polymers of acrylic acid or acrylates.

Magnet

A magnet is a material or object that produces a magnetic field.

 Lamp-pull ball-chain

A ball chain is a type of chain consisting of small sheet metal balls connected via short lengths of wire.

STEPS TO MAKE EARTHQUAKE DETECTOR

Step 1

Solder the 741 op-amp as shown in above picture.

Beside each of the Op-Amps, pin 4 goes to the -9V rail, and pin 7 goes to the +9V rail. Here I used jumper wires to connect the span between the pins and rails.

Step 3

Pin 6 to Pin 3,and Pin 3  to GND as shown.

Step 4

Solder the relay coil into pin 2 and pin 3 of the left IC just like the figure above.

Step 5

You can see that here I wired the left pin of the potentiometer to 9V+, the right pin to 9V-, and the middle pin  to pin 2 of the riht OpAmp IC.

Step 6

A 740 ohm resistor fromthe 9V+ rail, and connected that resistor to the positive lead of the LED. Both the LED and Piezo buzzer’s negative lead run to the output pin (6) of the right IC.

Step 7

Assemble the Enclosure & Sink the Magnet to the Relay Coil Into the Tube.
